About Clifton Jones
Clifton Jones writes and arranges music for band, orchestra, jazz ensemble, and woodwind ensemble. He is a native of Houston, Texas and played clarinet and saxophone in band and jazz ensemble program in the Fort Bend ISD schools. He studied composition and theory with Dr. William Thornton at Trinity University in San antonio, and with Dr. Michael Horvit at the University of Houston. Mr. Jones also had the opportunity to study arranging with Shelly Berg at San Jacinto College in Deer Park, TX. Mr. Jones plays clarinet in the Austin Symphonic Band in Austin, Texas and has written and dedicated many works for them, and their director, Richard Floyd. Mr. Jones currently teaches in the College Station Independent School District in College Station, Texas where he teaches woodwind methods and directs the jazz ensemble at College Station High School. He is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Jazz Educators Association, and ASCAP. He also works as a volunteer with the Austin Steam Train Association.
